Increasing Anaerobic Digestion Efficiency Using Food-Waste-Based Biochar

چکیده
The efficiency of methane production by anaerobic digestion (AD), during which energy is generated from organic waste, can be increased in various ways. Recent research developments have the volume gas AD using biochar. Previous studies used food waste itself AD, or, added wood-biochar or sewage sludge charcoal as an accelerant process. application food-waste biochar activated has not yet been studied and considered a potential method utilizing waste. Therefore, this study investigated use prepared thermal decomposition additive to tanks increase production. addition at 1% tank approximately 10% 4%. We found that served medium with trace elements promoted proliferation microorganisms AD.

Anaerobic digestion of autoclaved and untreated food waste.
Anaerobic digestion of autoclaved (160°C, 6.2 bar) and untreated source segregated food waste (FW) was compared over 473 days in semi-continuously fed mesophilic reactors with trace elements supplementation, at organic loading rates (OLRs) of 2, 3, 4 and 6 kg volatile solids(VS)/m(3)d. Methane yields at all OLR were 5-10% higher for untreated FW (maximum 0.483±0.013 m(3) CH4/kg VS at 3 kg VS/m(...

Fruit and vegetable wastes are produced in large quantities in Iran, and constitute a source of nuisance in municipal landfills. The objective of this study was to optimize the applications of anaerobic digestion for the treatment of municipal organic wastes. We studied the effect of organic loading rates on anaerobic digestion of vegetable wastes. The complete-mix, pilot-scale digester with wo...
